Create A Logo That Pops
When you think of your favorite brands, quite likely their logo pops into your mind immediately. You know how important it is to have an interesting and memorable logo to represent your business. It is likely the first thing that customers think of when they hear your company’s name. Keep in mind these four important rules of Logo Design and you will be able to create a logo that POPS off the page and sticks in the minds of your customers.
- Simple – While you can create a logo that is as complex as you desire, a simple logo is often the best choice. Think about some of the most recognizable company symbols and you will see that they are very simple. McDonald’s has the golden arches, a gold-colored M shape that children worldwide can spot from miles away. Coca Cola’s logo is simply the product name in a recognizable white script. Apple’s logo features the recognizable fruit with a bite out of it - making an iPhone instantly recognizable from a phone of another brand. These simple logos get the job done.
- Appropriate – Logos need to match the company they are paired with to have the best impact. Apple’s logo is an ideal example of this. Spend some time looking at examples of logos via a Google search. You will likely see some logos that just do not work. Quite often, this is because they do not fit with the company name, profile, or type.
- Memorable – You want your logo to stick in the minds of all those who see it. Your logo can be attractive and appropriate, but if it does not immediately bring to mind your company, it’s not doing the job it is meant to do. Even if you have not seen a Disney movie in years, you probably recognize the font from the Disney logo the second you see it in print. This type of memorability is priceless.
- Scalable – While your logo may look great on your sign out front, how will it look when printed smaller, on a promotional pen for instance? With any luck, you will be using your logo in a number of places both now and in the future, so choose something that you can easily scale up and down in size to give yourself the most flexibility. By thinking scalability now, you can save yourself some difficulty in the future.
If you follow these tips and go with your gut, you should be able to put together a logo that will be exciting and effective. Helo your business to stick in the minds of customers and potential customers. Who knows, maybe one day your logo will have the impact and staying power of “The Golden Arches” or “The Swoosh.”
